The Atlas Shawl.

An accessory designed to go everywhere.

This pattern is available now on Ravelry and Etsy.

Isn’t it beautiful?

My original vision for this shawl was as a long, rectangle shaped wrap, but as the design began taking shape I was reminded so much of a moth’s wings, so I kept the half moon shape, and named it Atlas (after the Atlas Moth). A very fitting name as it is a go-anywhere, wear-anywhere kind of piece. Over cold shoulders during warmer months, or as a scarf in fall and winter.

As a longtime fan of We Are Knitters, I designed this shawl with their The Pima Cotton yarn, chosen specifically for its weight and drape. It’s a beautiful 100% cotton yarn.

This pattern is written in US-English crochet terms, and is an easy level crochet project. It uses basic crochet stitches + the puff stitch (which you’ll master quickly). Started at the center top, each row increases on either side to create a geometric, half-moon shape.
